Correlation of Depression, Aggression and Suicidal Ideation on Patients of Prostatic Hypertrophy

Abstract
|

|
Purpose: This study is to examine correlation of depression, aggression and suicidal ideation on prostatic hypertrophy patients and to provide basic data for the improvement of nursing intervention.
Methods: This research involved 285 patients who were diagnosed with prostatic hyperplasia in a general hospital. Data collection was conducted from March 23 to April 24 in 2015. Statistical analysis of the collected data were t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe method post hoc analyses, and Pearson's correlation using SPSS IBM 22.0 program.
Results: The mean score of depression was 9.49, aggression was 35.48, and suicidal ideation was 2.39 points. There were positive correlation between depression and aggression(p<.01). There were also positive correlation between aggression and suicidal ideation(p<.01).
Conclusion: These results suggest setting up measures to depression, aggression and suicidal ideation. Nursing intervention program should be developed to prevent depression and aggression of prostatic hyperplasia patients.
